Frequently Asked Questions

  • Bushhogging, sometimes referred to as brush hogging, is cutting anything taller or thicker than a lawnmower is able to cut.

  • Yes, they can be rented. However, not many places offer the option to rent. You would need a large truck and trailer to haul the equipment or incur the additional costs to have the equipment delivered. Once the equipment arrives on your site, you have to get accustomed to using it. More often than not, it is much faster and easier to hire us to do all the work for you. It can even be more cost effective for you once you’ve factored in your time. Ask yourself, what is my time worth?

  • Every job is unique and priced individually. We like to inspect each site and look for things such as hazards, entry points, trouble spots, ample parking space, etc. All of these things will factor into the pricing of each job.

  • How often you need to bushhog will depend on what you want to use it for, what types of plants are on the land, what you want it to look like, etc.

We recommend cutting at least once per year to keep the saplings under control and up to three to five times per year depending on how you want the land to look. We have several customers that only cut during the fall and spring and some that cut as often as once per month.

The majority of customers typically cut three to five times per year (about 6-8 weeks apart through the year, 6 weeks apart during Spring and Fall, 8 weeks apart during the Summer).

  • While our bushhogs are capable of cutting between 2” to 14” height, we typically cut at 6-8” for repeat customers on terrain that we know.

For new customers and rough terrain, we cut much higher. Bushhog parts are very expensive. Cutting too low scalps the field, doesn’t give the desired look, and is very hard on equipment.

  • We run Case and John Deer 4WD cab tractors with front end loaders and batwing bushhogs for mowing.

We run Kubota compact track loaders with Loftness heads for forestry mulching.

  • Basically anyone who owns or manages land, needs bushhogging or forestry mulching. Some of our customers are:

Homeowners, Lawncare and Landscape Companies, Home Owners Associations, General Contractors, Real Estate Developers and Agents, Commercial and Industrial Businesses, Property Management Companies, and Commercial Telecommunications Companies

  • There is no limit to the size. What it comes down to is time, and time is money. We typically mulch 5-7” and below. The larger the tree, the longer it takes. If the tree is living or dead and what species it is are also variables that impact the time.

  • On average, we can mulch one acre per day. There are several factors that determine how much we can do in one day such as density of woods, terrain, amount of hardwood or softwood, how think you want it, soil composition, and time of year just to name a few.
